Meetings planners, here’s something new for you to pass the time and maybe divert your frustrations while you’re standing in the airport security line waiting to have your toiletries confiscated.
Try punching on your cell phones (or Blackberrys) the following in under 42.22 seconds: “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”
That’s the standardized phrase used in the fast and furious world of competitive speed text-messaging, and the speed record belongs to 18-year-old Ben Cook, of Provo, Utah.
Cook established the record at a Denver competition (aka text-off) in late July, besting, by more than a full second, the previous record of 43.24 seconds by a Singapore woman in mid-2004.
So break out those phones, warm up those fingers, and start text-messaging. And if you’re not approaching anywhere close to Cook’s new record, don’t fret. You’ll have plenty of chances to keep trying while in line.

William - I am roaring with laughter! I have enough problems entering names and phone numbers! For Boomer eyes and older fingers, text messaging is a challenge! Re the "text-off": Who was the planner for that one?!
